H. Keith Brunnemer, Jr.


Mr. Brunnemer is the founder of First Tryon Securities and has played an integral role in our development and success since we first opened our doors in 1996. Passionate about investing and helping others achieve financial freedom, Mr. Brunnemer has dedicated his entire career – more than 50 years – to investment banking and bond trading.

A native of Gastonia, N.C. and graduate of Duke University with a B.A. in Business Administration, Mr. Brunnemer began his career in 1961 as a bond trader and salesman for NCNB (now Bank of America). He became a Senior Vice President and board member with Interstate/Johnson Lane Corp. In 1968 followed by Founder, President and CEO of First Charlotte Corp. in 1976. In 1991, First Charlotte Corp. was sold to J.C. Bradford and Company where Mr. Brunnemer became a partner before starting First Tryon Securities in 1996.

During his expansive career in the investment business, he has held numerous prominent positions in various securities and banking organizations. He is the past chairman of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, past chairman of the N.C. Municipal Council, past president of N.C. Securities Dealers, past vice chairman of the NASD District 6, as well as the past chairman of First Commerce Bank. He also served with the U.S. Coast Guard until receiving an honorable discharge in 1969.
