First Tryon Advisors is pleased to announce Matt Tuchi has joined the firm’s Charlotte, North Carolina office to provide financial advisory services to clients throughout the Southeast. Before joining First Tryon Advisors, Matt worked for U.S. Bancorp for 8 years, where he helped to develop the firm's national higher education investment banking effort. Before his time at U.S. Bancorp, Matt was a Director at Wells Fargo Securities and its predecessors Wachovia Securities and First Union Securities in Charlotte, covering higher education and non-profit borrowers primarily located in the Southeast from 1993 to 2010.

Much of Matt's experience is in project finance, first as an affordable housing investment banker and then in higher education and non-profit finance. Matt was primarily responsible for developing First Union/Wachovia's nationwide privatized student housing business development efforts which ultimately culminated in project volume and credit exposure at its peak in excess of $1 billion. Matt's experience includes executing on each and every non-recourse student housing deal completed for University of North Carolina System Schools, totaling over $120 million in volume for 7 affiliate foundation borrowers. In addition to his broad public institution experience, he also worked with five UNC System Schools on eight fixed rate COP transactions to fund new housing or restructuring of existing student housing debt.

Matt was a National Merit Scholar and earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Arizona. He is a registered representative with the NASD, holding his Series 7 and 63 licenses.
