These brief biographies will give you a better understanding of the senior experience and knowledge behind our decisions.

  H. Keith Brunnemer, Jr. - President and CEO

46 years experience

Keith Brunnemer, Jr. began his career in 1961 as a bond trader and salesman for a large regional bank. In 1968 he became a Senior Vice President/Director of the Fixed Income Department for a regional broker-dealer. He continued to advance his career when he co-founded a regional fixed income broker-dealer where he served as President and CEO from 1976 to 1991. Following the sale of the firm to a larger broker-dealer, he continued as a Partner until 1995. In 1996, he founded First Tryon Securities and has played an integral role in the success First Tryon has achieved to date. During his expansive career in the investment business, he has held numerous positions in securities and banking organizations. He is the past chairman of the MSRB, past chairman of the N.C. Municipal Council, past president of N.C. Securities Dealers, past vice chairman of the NASD District 6, as well as the past chairman of a local bank.

  James L. McCoy, Jr. - Executive Vice President

37 years experience

Jim McCoy started his career in the securities business in 1970 and was Vice President and area Sales Manager for a large regional bank. He has since been a Partner in a regional fixed income firm for 12 years and an Investment Limited Partner in a regional securities/brokerage firm. Before joining First Tryon, he was the Managing Director of the Municipal Securities Group for the Corporate and Investment Bank of a top 5 financial services firm where he was employed for a total of 11 years. Currently, Jim is responsible for the management and growth of First Tryon’s municipal institutional trading and sales desk.
